Playing computer games in the 8-bit home computer era typically meant enduring five minute plus tape loading times. During this loading time, a blank screen was not much fun to look at so in order to liven things up a bit, the loading screen came into being. A loading screen is a nice picture to look at whilst waiting for the game to load and hopefully run. The sight of a loading screen being drawn on screen before your very eyes, complete with coloured raster bars in the border area and even loading music for some games was a thing of beauty and occasionally looking at this was better than playing the game itself. Retro Loaders is a collection of images that have been converted to 8-bit resolution and palette presented as loading screens.
